Indian conglomerate Tata acquired online grocery shopping bigbasket
On May 28, "Tata Digital", a subsidiary of India's largest conglomerate, "Tata Group", announced that it acquired "bigbasket", an online shopping store for food and miscellaneous goods in India. The acquisition price is not unveiled, however local media in India reports that it will be 95 billion rupees (about 140 billion yen). According to the Competition Commission of India, the company has acquired the corporate B to B company "Super Grocery Suppliers" operated by bigbasket, and has also acquired the consumer B to C Company "Innovative Retail Concepts". The purpose of the acquisition is "to accelerate the introduction of grocery utilizing EC shopping into the Tata Digital in the COVID-19 era."
