Shopify Announced its Financial Results for the Second Quarter of 2021. GMV Reached to ¥ 4.6 Trillion
On July 28, Canada's online shopping major Shopify announced its financial results for the second quarter of 2021. Sales increased 57% from the same period of the previous year to 1.119 billion dollars (approximately 122.7 billion yen). Gross profit increased 66% from the same period of the previous year to about 620 million dollars (about 68 billion yen). GMV increased 40% from the same period of the previous year to 42.2 billion dollars (about 4.6 trillion yen). Due to the increase in the number of affiliated stores, subscription sales increased 70% from the same period of the previous year to 334 million dollars (about 36.6 billion yen), and store sales increased 52% from the same period of the previous year to 785 million dollars (about 86 billion yen). Shopify has made a full platform update. For example, by introducing a function that supports product management on the company's own system "Shopify Fulfillment Network" for businesses, it will be possible to track the delivery status of products more accurately. Additionally, the company has strengthened its payment service "Shop Pay," and by linking with Facebook and Google, payments can be made directly from the above SNS without going through Shopify's online stores. Additionally, installment payment support has also been added.
